Cats In Need is a volunteer-run, non-profit, no-kill Southern California rescue group organized to bring homeless adoptable cats and potential life-long owners together. The Brea Chapter operates out of the PETsMART Luv A Pet Centers located at: 2465 E. Imperial Highway, Brea, CA 714-256-0205. As you can see, we have many black and white and all black cats right now. For some strange reason these beautiful creatures are often overlooked. They have so much love to give and just want love in return. What can I say about this big guy? A lot! First of all, he was found behind Nordstom Rack in Brea. He is such a friendly guy that he had to be someone's pet at some point. He's about three years old. He loves to play and run around which is hard for him right now because he's stuck in a cage most of the time. He would be fine with another cat so long as they aren't too spunky. He'd prefer a more mellow house mate. He loves playing with feather toys, toy mice, "sparkle poofs" (see picture), and he also loves to play in boxes. He sometimes likes to do his own thing but also will come over to you when he's ready to be adored. And I do, adore him that is! I really want Oscar to find a home! This is Sabrina. Isn't she beautiful? She's a gorgeous two year old torti. The poor thing was left in a locked garage with her five kittens when the owner moved away. They had no food, no water and no way to get out. I don't know how someone could do that, but thankfully a neighbor (a very good person) saved them. This beautiful and sweet creature deserves a loving home and deserves to be pampered! Please make that happen for her!   [ 3856 reads ] |

This little beauty is about four to five months old. Her name is Tori because of her coloring, tortishell. Her brother is Diesel and her sister is Paige (see below). This beautiful girl's name is Sheba. She's about 1-2 years old. We're not exactly sure of her age because she was found outside as a stray. We're thinking that she must have been someone's pet at some time because she is not feral. She's very sweet. She so wants be loved. Unfortunately as we see with a lot of cats that live outside, Sheba has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. She is doing very well and can live a very happy life but this means that she can only be adopted out to a family who has other kitties that are FeLV positive or she needs to be the only kitty. Because of this she is confined to a cage most of the time right now. The home she is being fostered in has other cats too, so she needs to be kept separate from them. This poor sweet thing doesn't belong in a cage. She needs to be loved. I know adopting a cat is a big responsibility, and adopting one that is FeLV positive can seem really scary. Knowledge is very important. Trixie is a sweet little girl. She's about six-months-old. She is so scared right now. She doesn't mind the other kitties in the store but it's the humans she's trying to get used to. She's getting there. She has recently decided it was okay to come out of her cage to explore, a big breakthrough for her! She doesn't mind being pet, in fact she kind of relaxes and likes it, she's just not sure of your intentions at first. She needs a quiet home with someone who will let her blossom into the pretty little flower I know she is. She needs a loving and patient person and I know there will be big rewards for that person. She's very playful in her cage (which is where she feels safe right now). She loves to bat around her little crinkle ball. What she really needs is a home where she will learn to feel safe and she can have more room to bat around her favorite toy!   [ 4023 reads ] |

Jasmina is a 2-3 year old gray tabby who is a bit shy but very sweet. She was rescued from living a hard life on the streets while she was pregnant. She gave birth to her kittens several months back and is now seeing them get adopted. Now it's her turn. She would like to be the only cat in the household. She needs someone who will be patient with her because she is a little scared and just needs someone to love and trust. She is a real sweetheart!  Update! Jasmina was adopted out but sadly is back with us again looking for a new home. It didn't work out for her in her recent home. She was frightened at first when she first came back but has since come out of her shell and is really sweet! She still wants to be the only cat though please!   [ 4175 reads ] |

 Tyler is an adorable 4 month old black and white little boy. He might look a little sad in the top picture right now, because his brother (Marlow) has just been adopted, and Tyler is still waiting for someone to take him home. He loved to play with his brother. He will soon be joined by his sister Debbie who has just been fixed. She's the little cutie on the right. The mostly black with white chest doing a little pose for the camera. Tyler is a little shy and would be best in a home with no small children or dogs. He loves attention and being pet.UPDATE! The story above is from about three years ago. They were both adopted out together to a home but now unfortunately they are back with us again looking for a new home. Their owners had to move and couldn't keep them. They also have new names and now go by Holly and Butler. I need to get some new pictures of them because since two years have gone by they are obviously a little bigger now. They are still as cute as ever! This pretty girl is Chanel. She is a two-year-old calico who was first rescued as a kitten. She is now looking for a new home because the owner unfortunately couldn't pay the pet deposit for her. The poor thing is very nervous and frightened whenever she is in the store. She needs someone who will be patient and loving with her. She needs a quiet home and she's not a lap cat. If it's not already obvious, let me explain for the sad looking pictures of these two kitties. They are scared! They don't understand what's going on and what is the reason for the big change in their lives. Why they suddenly find themselves in a Petsmart store. Andy is the gray and white boy in the square bed. He's ten years old. Houkle is the brown and white tabby hiding in the litter box. She's eleven years old. Their owners moved and couldn't take them with them for some reason. Now we are looking for a good, loving, patient and lifelong home for them.
