Success Stories

Peaches
The following four kitty adoption success stories are about my four little fur angels. My husband and I adopted them from the Brea Cats in Need. First we brought home Peaches on April 5, 2002. She was described on the sign on her cage as very loving and quiet. Well, the very loving part is true, but when she came home with us, she found her voice! And we loved it. Peaches helped to heal our hearts after we had to say goodbye to my other feline friend of almost nineteen years, Baxter. Peaches has one of the sweetest souls. She loves to play with toy mice, she loves to eat and she also gives nose kisses. We are so blessed to have her in our home.

Toby
Next is Toby (formerly known as Mittens). He came to live with us on September 19, 2002. We thought that Peaches would benefit from having a kitty companion around the house. Little did we know that Peaches would have preferred to be the only cat. That's not to say that she doesn't like her new little brother. She just likes him about as much as any sister likes their rambunctious little brother. Toby is a sweet and loving little guy who loves to snuggle with me on the couch. He also has an endearing jealous streak in him. If we are giving attention to the other kitties he will sit just out of arms reach and pout like a little child until we go to him and give him some loving too.

Smudge
Sammi
That brings us to the two most recent additions to our home, Smudge and Sammi (formerly known as Margo). We brought them home on March 4, 2005. We had no plans to add two more kitties to our home, but I convinced my husband that we had no choice. One day, when I went into the Brea Petsmart store to clean the cat's cages out, I saw a little post-it note on their cage that said "Will consider splitting up Smudge and Margo." I had already been cleaning out their cage for a few months (I'm a volunteer there and I clean out the cages once a week) and had grown very fond of them and just didn't want to see this brother and sister duo split up. Smudge seemed very dependent on his sister, he was very shy. We decided to see how it would go, to see if Peaches and Toby would accept them. We put the "new kids" in their own private bathroom to get use to our home. Only a few days later Peaches and Toby were pushing their way into the bathroom to meet their new house mates and the "new kids" were pushing their way out. They got along great! In fact Smudge and Sammi got along with their new siblings so fast but it took them longer to get use to us (the humans). Smudge is now very playful, he loves to play with ping pong balls and carry them around in his mouth. He is the clown of the family. He also loves to be pet and sometimes will insist on sitting on your lap to snuggle. Sammi is a little tom boy and loves to run around and play with her brothers. She really knows how to put them in their place if she needs to. She is sweet, adorable, loves to be pet and has the cutest little squeaky meows.
My husband and I are outnumbered now, but they give us so much joy and unconditional love, we wouldn't have it any other way.
